Could the San Francisco 49ers be Bill Parcells' next reclamation project?
Maybe, maybe not, but team president Jed York plans to talk to the two-time Super Bowl winning coach for advice on how to restructure the team's front office.
Asked on SIRIUS NFL Radio about consulting Parcells, York responded:
"I will certainly reach out to Bill. You know, Bill hired (49ers vice president of player personnel) Trent Baalke when he was with the Jets. And, you know, I think I'd like to pick Bill's brain a little bit about his thoughts on Trent, but also this process. Because Bill has done a great job rebuilding several franchises and there aren't many better people in the league to reach out to.
"There are a lot of other folks out there that I'd like to reach out to and get as much expertise as I can before I make my decision."
York will also be looking for a new head coach after firing Mike Singletary on Sunday night.
NFL Network analyst Mike Lombardi wouldn't admit to interviewing for the 49ers GM job Wednesday and opined that Baalke will ultimately run the team's personnel side.
