The awareness of the interest and demand from customers for «ethical products», which respect human rights and the ecological aspects of our world, is increasing steadily in every part of our daily life. To address these concerns, in 2008 our authorised refiner created a new special gold product called «Green Gold».
For gold bars, gold grain, gold alloys and other products marked with the Green Gold label this ensures and certifies that:
The gold has been mined by an approved mine which respects human rights, acts socially and ethically and has environmentally progressed methods of extraction.
Only primary gold which comes directly from the approved mine is used and is kept separate at all times, starting from the collection at the mine throughout the entire process, that means it has been transported, refined and finally processed in special dedicated production lines and has NEVER come into contact with uncertified gold and/or good delivery gold.
The entire process is monitored and recorded at all times by an independent auditor.
The Green Gold product is long-term deliverable, has always the same origin and will be available even when there is a shortage of primary gold.
Mines that are to be considered as the refiner's Green Gold doré suppliers have to:
Be a member of the «Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices» or an organisation of equal standing;
Be in possession of a monitoring system;
Declare that they are willing to be examined at any time by an independent auditor; and
Have signed the ICMI (International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport and use of Cyanide in the production of Gold) Cyanide Code.
Currently, our authorised refiner produces only a limited range of gold product from its Green Gold. However, PreMet is exploring the option for large volume Investor Bar orders to be manufactured from Green Gold, in order that we may offer this option to our clients.
